Job Descriptions

Members of the Board of Directors

President ฿

As defined by Lions Clubs International, the President is the chief executive of the club and ensures the overall smooth operation of the club. They appoint chairpersons, plan and conduct meetings, manage club elections, and facilitate collaboration.

Vice President ฿

The Vice President is the president's shadow, preparing to become president while supporting the club president in implementing their goals and being a catalyst for the club's activities.

Secretary ฿

Job The Secretary records the ongoings of the club and the board in the form of minutes, reports monthly to MyLCI or more frequently as needed, maintains the membership roster, and conducts the quorum call at each meeting that business is to be discussed.

Treasurer ฿

The Treasurer is the primary signer and responsible person for all club finances and assets. Alongside the secretary, the treasurer receives dues and any other monies coming into the club, and with the authorization of the board, signs and sends all checks from and on behalf of the club. The treasurer reports to the club during each business meeting the financial health of the club, and more frequently as needed to the board.

Communications Director ฿

The Communications Director (Marketing Communications Chairperson) keeps all club activities in the public eye while promoting the club and its service to the community. This is mainly done via the club's social media channels: facebook, twitter, and Instagram, as well as publication to local Nextdoor and relevant newspapers as appropriate.

Immediate Past President ฿

The Immediate Past President is an invaluable resource and guide to the president and leadership team. They will frequently serve as an ambassador representing our club to other Lions and Leos groups and the world. They help the president to remain mindful of the needs and perspectives of the club and its members.

Safety, Diversity, and Inclusivity Officer

Our Safety, Diversity, and Inclusivity Officer (Safety Officer) is responsible for making sure that all locations and spaces that our club uses are free of hazards, and that we can safely serve the community and our Lions. They also make sure that our club meetings are conducted in a safe and inclusive way so that no member or guest feels unwelcome or otherwise excluded. In our club, we feel this is such an important role that we have elevated it to be a part of our board of directors.

Advisors, Coordinators, Liaisons, & Committee Positions

Club Administrator

The Club Administrator supports and facilitates the board of directors in their various roles, and also has same-level access as the secretary and president within MyLCI. The Club Administrator ensures that all reporting, including service reporting, happens on a regular basis and is accurate.

Education Chair

The Education Chair serves as the liaison and mentor to the Katy Leos Club. The primary advisor to the Leos, with the other advisors providing additional support and also being aware of the goings-on of the Leos club. As the club’s primary representative, and as an advisor placed by and on behalf of the club, the Education Chair ensures that the Leos know how to and are running their own meetings, are able to conduct themselves professionally, and that their service journey is getting started positively.

Food Drives Lead

The Food Drive Lead’s primary focus and task is developing and rolling out food drives to benefit the local food pantries and homeless organizations serving the Katy community.

While a financial background is not necessary, the coordinator will also work closely with the treasurer to bring LCIF and non-LCIF grants and humanitarian funds to the club.

Leos Advisors

The Leos Club Advisors works in tandem with the Education Chair to support and facilitate the needs of the Katy Leos Club.

ALERT Lead

With the increase in unreliable, damaging, extreme weather, the Life Saving & Quality Lead is the direct liaison with the City of Katy and the district's ALERT team, ensuring that prior to, during, and after any community impacting disaster, our club is able to rapidly respond and meet the new challenges and needs of the community. The LSQ Lead also coordinates blood drives, donor drives, marrow drives, and other life-saving initiatives.

Lion Tamer

The Lion Tamer is responsible for the banners, stands, and physical "stuff" that the club uses in the course of our meetings and activities.

Membership Chair

Job The Membership Chairperson works with the club's leadership team and their District-level counterpart to develop and execute membership initiatives designed to maintain and increase our club. They are in charge of orienting and nurturing new members and partnering them with mentoring lions.  In our club, this is not a board position automatically, however a board member is usually appointed to this role.

Parliamentarian

The Chairperson of the Constitution and By-Laws Committee, they help the Board and members interpret the Constitution and adhere to its rules and procedures.

Recycling Lead

Job The Recycling Lead is the primary point person for all service projects and fundraisers focusing on improving the environment, with primary emphasis on recycling and roadside clean-ups.

Scholarships Lead

Assistant Secretary

The brief of the Assistant Secretary is to serve as a backup person to the Secretary, and to help with data entry.

Service Chair

The Service Chairperson helps develop service projects and activities, and assist in setting them up for the activity's leaders. They also report the clubs' service and activities to MyLion regularly. In our club, they are not a member of the board of directors.

Social Media Lead

Job The Social Media Lead is the backup person within the club that has knowledge of all of the technical systems of the club. This person has most if not all of the permissions for our systems, and they can be deputized to assist other Lions with matters at the same degree of authority and access as the Communications Director.

Speaker Rotation Lead

Job The Speaker Rotation Lead (Program Coordinator) helps enrich our Lions by scheduling speakers to address our club about relevant and worthy topics. This person schedules two guest speakers for each month which can include the district governor, zone chairperson, and representatives from the district’s charities.

Tail Twister

The Tail Twister provides comedic relief and promotes joyous harmony within our club and especially at all regular meetings of the club. They conduct good-natured stunts and challenges to members, with the goal of fostering community and the spirit of Lionism.

Toy Drive Lead

The Toy Drive Lead is the primary point person for the Annual Toy Drive benefitting Texas Childrens’ Hospital and other deserving organizations.
